ITV News reported on 9 October that the UK and its allies rallied around the International Criminal Court in response to US sanctions directed at the tribunal. The move highlights a growing rift between Washington and its traditional partners over how far the court's powers extend.

The decision by allied governments to defend the tribunal came shortly after the US imposed sanctions against the body. Observers say that the divide may put pressure on longstanding diplomatic relationships between Washington and its allies.

Separately, King Charles covered the restoration costs for Prince Andrew. The arrangement attracted scrutiny given the unresolved issues surrounding the prince's position within the royal family.

The PSNI also issued written notice to Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill in connection with a Garvaghy Road protest linked to the long-running Drumcree dispute. The letter opens the door to a formal police interview, adding a new dimension to a dispute that has persisted for decades.
