Australia's superannuation system is under serious scrutiny after a Labor minister raised an investment proposal that prompted widespread criticism from financial media and industry observers. The AFR, The Australian, and The Nightly have each warned the government against turning superannuation into a policy lever, with some commentators describing the direction as "dangerous territory."

Separately, super funds have been put on notice over a rate tipping point, according to Super Review. The alert suggests increasing stress on returns that funds must respond to. Meanwhile, reform proposals from One Nation and the Coalition are being criticised as inadequate, with the AFR reporting both plans leave unresolved a key structural gap in the system.
