Carlton have picked up GWS Giants midfielder Lachie Whitfield during the AFL trade period, with the deal confirmed on 13 October 2026. Five picks were exchanged in the transaction.

Whitfield has been a loyal and consistent Giant over his career and is considered one of the competition's more dependable midfielders. He brings plenty of experience to a Carlton midfield that has been pushing for more in recent seasons.

His move to Carlton ranks among one of the more significant trades of the 2026 period. The Giants will hold on to the five picks in return for losing a player who served the club well at the highest level.

For Carlton, landing a midfielder of Whitfield's quality is a strong addition heading into the next campaign. The deal shows Carlton means business as they look to contend in 2027.
